Hadleigh Woods Gazette
Special Notice From Windham Zoning Board of Adjustment: A hearing will be held on Feb. 27, 2007 at 7:30 PM at the Planning & Development office (next to Town Hall) to discuss a variance requested by Granite Oaks, LLC (we know as Brian Harvey, etc.) to erect a granite sign on Rte. 28. The proposed granite sign would be larger than the Zoning Ordinance currently allows. As abutters we, as members of Hadleigh Woods, are invited to speak on the variance, pro or con.
Annual Spring Yard Sale. The time is nearing to start thinking about whether or not, or when, we should hold another community yard sale. There is some positive interest already but we would like to hear from any others on the issue. Please call either Betty C.on or Gerda T.with your take.
What a Party!! The first–ever H-W Valentine Dinner Dance was, by all accounts, a rousing success. The food, the wine, the appetizers, the favors, the table decorations, and, of course the music and entertainment were great. Even with the 6 or 8 people who wanted to go but couldn’t, 37 others braved the cold and journeyed to the Senior Center for the evening. A heartfelt thanks is extended to Richard and Joanne, Tom and Anna, Judy and Bobby and others who worked so hard to make this a classy event. A very special thanks goes out to Bobby for the music (live and recorded) and as the emcee for the evening. If you missed this one you need to plan on being at the next one!
From the Board of Directors
Changing of the Guard! With your directors coming and going on vacation, here is an update of where directors will be and who will be available during the month of March.
1. On Vacation in Florida: Len K. and George H.(both can be reached, if necessary, via cell phone).
2. Home and Available: Richard M., Mary Ann D. and Gratia M.
Lawn Care-Snow Plowing Contract Extended. The Board of Directors voted unanimously to extend the Lawn Care portion of the contract with B&C Landscaping by two more lawn seasons ending 10-30-08 and the winter snow portion by one more season ending 3-31-08. This action was based upon a special incentive of $1,000 a season for the lawn fertilizer service if we commit to two seasons now. The net result is that our monthly cost for all services is just slightly more than the current contract despite that this is happening in a period of rising costs for fuel, labor, etc. It does not, in any way, change the timely and quality service we expect from B&C as we go forward.
Dead or Dying Trees and Branches A few trees along the perimeter of the lawns have been identified as a potential danger to adjacent buildings and will either be removed completely or pruned back by a certified tree service. This project will be completed while the grounds are still frozen to keep lawn damage to a minimum.
Sick Bay. Tom T., is recuperating from a two week nightmare caused by bleeding in his gastro-intestinal tract. Thanks to persistent treatment in both Derry and Boston the sources have been located and, hopefully, corrected. Now, Tom has to continue convalescing to regain his strength. His old vitality is sure to follow!
Gloria L., is home from the hospital where she underwent extensive diagnostic tests for her illness. The latest reports have been most favorable and with medication she has now begun to resume a normal life.
Grace N. is still convalescing at her daughter’s place and, by all accounts, she is coming along quite well. Hope to see her home real soon.

I guess Old Man Winter just couldn’t stand staying away all season and will do his best to give us a healthy ration of snow, sleet, frigid temperatures and anything else of a nasty nature he can conjure up. We’re tough though and we can handle whatever he sends us but we don’t have to like it!!!
Continuing To Wish You All Good Health and Prosperity in 2007.
