It’s finally Summer!

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Now that summer has finally arrived and before we begin complaining about the heat, remember that not long ago in December we were in the midst of an ice storm and no heat.  Since the rains stopped, we have been having great weather until this heat.  Let’s hope that this nice weather continues until October… November…maybe beyond?

Message from the President

Board of Directors Meeting

The Board of Directors will be having their next meeting on Friday, August 21st, at the Alley Kat Grill located inside the Park Place Lanes.  We will begin at 9:30 AM following our regular Friday community breakfast at 8:30 AM.  You are all welcome to attend.

Propane - The major topic on our agenda will be the selection of our propane delivery company.  As you are all aware, our contract with Eastern Propane is ending soon.  The members of our Propane Search Committee (Tom H., Bob & Dom) will be presenting their findings.  The Board will be selecting one of the following companies: AmeriGas, Eastern Propane, Haffner's or Palmer Gas.

Projects - As you know from our Semi-Annual meeting, we have a number of projects that we are in the process of accomplishing.  Some of the work needing to be done includes:  sink holes, siding repair, roof repair, mold removal, lamppost painting, tree removal, loam & seeding.  We have replaced seven mailboxes and all driveways will be seal coated in the coming weeks.  To see the locations of these projects, go to the following link on our website: http://www.hadleighwoods.com/projects.htm.

Volunteers – If you would like to assist with any of these projects, please notify any Board member. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Lamppost - The cross bar on the lamppost is not a hanger for plants.  The small potted plant that you hung in the spring can grow into a large heavy weight by August.  The aluminum lamppost is not secured into anything solid and can loosen.

Weeding - If you have side garden, plantings around the lamppost, or have flowers/plants that you added to the front of your unit, remember that you are responsible for the weeding and caring of those plants.

Storage - Please do not use the area under your deck as storage.  That is a violation per Item 4 of Schedule C of our Condominium documents.

Speed Limit – A reminder that our speed limit is 20 MPH.

NH Condominium Education

Self-Managed – Professionally Managed: Which is the Best Choice Seminar – Tuesday, September 15, 20096 PM to 8 PM at the Manchester City Library.  Regardless of an Association’s size, how it is managed can mean the difference between a great place to live or not.  There is so much to consider, and this seminar will discuss what the benefits are of both options: self managed and professionally managed.  The second part of the seminar will address how to choose the right manager – either if your association will hire an on-site manager; continue to be managed by the Board, or to hire a professional management company.

(If you are interested in attending this seminar, please call or email Richard)

Computer Tip of the Month

Don’t forget about the button on the right side of the mouse. Clicking this button will give you information and options about the object you clicked on.  For example, if you click on a blank spot on your desktop and select “Properties” (using the left side button), this will take you to a section where you can change the background of your computer screen, etc.

Household Tip

Do you have a foul odor coming from your sink that you think is the water?  Is it mainly your master bathroom sink?  Overtime, toothpaste, shaving cream, etc. will buildup in the drain resulting in a foul aroma when water initially contacts this residue.  The drain and trap need to be cleaned.

If you do not have the ability or the ambition to clean the drain and trap, try this method.  Pour one cup of baking soda down the drain, and follow immediately with one cup of table salt, then one-half cup of distilled white vinegar.  Set a timer for 15 minutes.  While the ingredients make their way through the clog, boil two quarts of tap water.  When the timer goes off, slowly pour the boiling water down the drain, and then let hot tap water run for a minute.
