New Directors Elected:  Congratulations to Nina and Tom H. who where elected at the recent Annual Meeting to full, two year terms on the Board of Directors. They replace outgoing Directors Mary Ann and Len K. whose terms expire at the end of this December.

Nina and her husband Ben came to Hadleigh Woods in the fall of 2003 from North Branford, CT. where they raised three boys (two now live in our general area). Nina worked in banking for many years before retirement. By the way, Ben and Nina are in their 49th year of marriage.

Tom and his wife Diann of 38 years also came to Hadleigh Woods in the fall of 2003.    from Salem where they had been long time residents. Both Tom and Diann were born and raised in rural Maine but raised their four children, two boys and two girls, in Salem. Tom’s professional career spanned nearly 37 years as an auditor for the Government. His interests include golf, bowling, tennis and, especially traveling with Diann to visit the children who are scattered about the country.

From the Board of Directors

It’s Snow Season, Again.  The time for the difficult job of plowing and removing snow from our roads and driveways is here again. It is a time for cooperation and patience. A couple of areas where everyone can help are, first, if you have an un-garaged car, park it in one of the overflow areas until the driveways are opened up and, secondly, be careful where you place outside decorations, etc. because neither the Association nor the contractor is responsible for any damage that might occur to them.

The driver in the first storm was the same person who has done such a good job caring for our lawns. He is brand new at plowing and will only improve as he gains experience!

New Budget-Finance Committee:  Effective immediately, a new advisory committee to the Board is being assembled to deal with long term issues such as Audits, Financial and Capital Reserve Directions, Continued Ownership of the Water System, etc. To date, past Presidents Marion and Len K. along with Jim C. have been named. We are looking for 2 or 3 additional residents who would like to join in. Contact either Len K. or Richard if you are interested.

Outside Pole Lamp Post  Bulbs. The Board has recently completed a full cleaning, inspection and replacement of burned–out bulbs throughout the community. If you have any future issues with the post lamps, do not attempt to fix them yourself….instead, refer the situation to a Director and the Board will arrange to make the repairs.

Mail Box Flags. If anyone has a broken or malfunctioning mailbox flag, contact any Director for a replacement kit. The Board has a small supply in stock.

Defective Weather Stripping on the Large, Double Hung Windows.  You may have noticed that the vinyl/foam weather strip found on the bottom of the lower sashes have deteriorated (cracked open or even partially peeled off). To inspect yours, run your fingers along the very bottom of the sash and you can feel the strip and determine its condition. If you identify any that need repair, notify one of the Directors with the number of windows to be repaired and the Board will arrange to get the new stripping to you. You are responsible for removing the old strip, cutting and sliding the new piece in place. The local dealer who supplied the windows to the builder is providing replacement stripping material to us for the next three years at no charge.

Landscape Committee: Our collective thanks continue to go out to this group of volunteers who do so much to keep our common areas looking so neat and groomed. Right now they are enhancing the Hadleigh Road entrance a bit as well as tackling encroaching and unwanted weeds among the bushes and shrubs. You can help by keeping the areas in front of your units weeded and picked-up, including removing dead flowers and outdated displays.

Poker, Anyone? A group of card playing residents have put together a regular, friendly poker game of several tables. If there are any other like-minded residents please give Dick M. 890-0323, Joe C. 898-3379 or Joe D. 893-1974 a call.

Anyone for Golf?  Due strictly to the recent change in the weather, the once (or twice) a week “H-W Golf School” is postponed until next spring!
